Angiography in Amravati: Preparation, Procedure and Recovery

By Dr. Pavan Agrawal, Interventional Cardiologist, Amravati · October 2026 · 2 min read

Coronary angiography is an X-ray test that shows whether the arteries of your heart are narrowed or blocked.

Before the test

  • Tell the doctor about allergies, kidney disease, diabetes and all medicines
  • Follow instructions about food and drink
  • Someone should accompany you

During the test

  • The area at the wrist or groin is numbed
  • A thin tube is guided to the heart and dye is injected
  • X-ray pictures are taken. Most people stay awake and the test often takes under an hour

Recovery

  • Rest for a few hours while the site is checked
  • Drink fluids unless told otherwise
  • The doctor explains the result. If a blockage is found, treatment options are discussed
